Privacy Policy

Groen values your privacy. Therefore, we want to explain comprehensively and correctly what Groen does and does not do.

All personal data are processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, to provide the information you have requested or to realise the service you want online. Groen is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The controller of personal data is Groen, Van Orleystraat 5-11, 1000 Brussels, [email protected], 02 219 19 19.

Which personal data?

We collect the data you voluntarily provide us by filling in webforms, such as your name, your e-mail address and your address. We may use this data for campaign purposes.

If you contact us by e-mail, we may save the content of the message, your e-mail address and replies. We may also retain any message or user information you send us via this website.

Your personal data is only accessible by a limited number of designated Groen employees and is never disclosed to third parties.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you provide. Groen is not liable for the consequences of providing incorrect data.
What is the purpose of processing personal data?

We ask for personal data to keep you informed, according to your interests, of Groen's views and activities, to provide you with requested information, to follow up further if you indicate you would like to help Groen as a volunteer or to promote Groen's membership.

The data processing is done in the context of Groen's activities as a Belgian political party, with a view to further developing our organisation. The processing relates to members, former members, donors and persons in contact with Groen.

What doesn't Groen do?

Groen undertakes not to purchase any commercial or other databases of personal data. It only uses data that individuals provide voluntarily, through both physical and digital contacts.

Groen does not retain, based on self-reported dates of birth, data from individuals under 13 years of age.

Your personal data is never passed on or sold to third parties.

Email preferences

We only send you e-mail updates if you explicitly give your consent via a webform.

You can manage your e-mail preferences yourself using the link at the bottom of each e-mail.

Your rights

According to the aforementioned General Data Protection Regulation, you always have the right to view your data, correct errors or delete data from our database. Upon simple request, we will delete your data completely. To do so, contact us, with proof of identity, via Groen, Van Orleystraat 5-11, 1000 Brussels or by email [email protected].

NationBuilder

Groen uses the platform NationBuilder for the organisation of its database and website. You can read more about this company at NationBuilder.com.

Cookies

To operate the website Groen uses cookies which are stored on your computer by your browser. Cookies are small files containing information which Groen's server sends to your browser in order for that information to be sent back to Groen's server during your next visit. A cookie cannot spread viruses.

Groen will not place cookies without your permission, except in the case of a functional cookie (a cookie strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by you, or to enable communication).

Analytical cookies

Groen collects automatically generated, anonymised information about your surfing behaviour while using groen.be with the Google Analytics platform, including - but not limited to - how often certain pages are viewed. This information includes your IP address and the type of browser (the computer programme used to view internet pages) you use. With Microsoft Clarity, Groen collects data about user visits to the website (such as average time spent on the web page, where users click on pages), with the aim of generating reports to optimise website content.

Meta-plug-ins

Groen uses Meta Business Tools from Facebook Inc (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or, if you are based in the EU, Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbor, Dublin 2, Ireland ('Facebook')).

When you log into our website with your Facebook account, a connection is established with the Facebook servers. This transfers your visit to our website to the Facebook server. If you are logged into Facebook as a member, Facebook will also add this information to your personal Facebook user account. If you use plug-in functions, this information will also end up in your Facebook account. You can prevent this by logging out before using the plug-in.

In addition, in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR, you can also object to the processing of your personal data at any time (insofar as the processing is justified by necessity to protect the legitimate interests of the controller or a third party).

The use of Meta plug-ins makes Facebook Ireland a joint controller. For more information about Facebook Ireland, and how they process personal data (including the legal basis and ways to exercise your rights as a data subject against Facebook Ireland), please refer to Facebook's privacy policy at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy.
Transfer to countries outside the EEA

For the purposes set out in this privacy notice, Groen may use processors located outside the EEA. However, Groen will not process personal data without taking the necessary measures to ensure the level of protection under the GDPR.

Specifically, this means that a transfer of personal data to processors outside the EEA will only occur if there are appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) or on the basis of adequacy decisions by the European Commission.
How long does Groen keep your personal data?

We will not retain your personal data for longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or than required by law.

When the personal data are no longer necessary and we no longer have a legal retention obligation, they will be deleted from our database. Should this not prove possible, they will at least be anonymised.

Groen members' personal data will be kept for up to 30 years after the end of membership.
